Zuccarelli's Trattoria Palm Beach |
Wine and Food Pairing at Zuccarelli's Italian Restaurant

L-R Zuccarelli's owner Olympia, Antonella Manoti Bendit from Transatlantic Wines, Sommelier Erin Demara, Chef Daniel De La Cruz, and Sommelier Charlie Arturaola with wife Pandora Anwyl from Corson-Anwyl
Last week I attended “The Best of Both Worlds Dinner” at Zuccarelli’s Italian Trattoria in Palm Beach. There were eighty guests that enjoyed a sumptuous menu especially designed by Chef Daniel De La Cruz and paired by Sommelier Charlie Arturaola with wines from Chile, Italy, and the United States.
Dinner started with a crisp Arugula and fresh Mozzarella salad paired with a Sauvignon Blanc Santa Carolina Reserva from Rapel Valley in Chile. The second course was the fabulous Fungi Porcini Papardelle Da La Casa paired with a 2004 Chianti Classico San Fabiano Calsinaia from Tuscany. The pasta was followed by their fish baked in parchment-paper Dentice al Cartoccio paired with a Tuscan 2003 Cellole San fabiano Chianti Classico Riserva; and a tender Fillet Mignon served with risotto and paired with the extraordinary Super-Tuscan Ceviolo San Fabiano. Dessert was a refreshing Gelato with Fresh Berries accompanied by a delightful Mission Hill 2007 Riesling Ice Wine from Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. My pasta and entrees were delicious and perfectly cooked and the entire affair was truly enjoyable.
Zuccarelli’s is a charismatic restaurant that offers a traditional Italian menu. The ambiance, décor and nightly entertainment are traditional Italian, and complement the delicious cuisine of Chef Daniel De La Cruz, who has the rare gift of turning out delightful classics like Veal Scallopini Marsalla, and Chicken Picata with absolute perfection. After twenty eight years in Miami, the Zuccarelli family opened the doors to this new location in Palm Beach, and Olympia, the Owner, commented ‘It took us twenty-eight years to get this correctly, and we are very pleased with the results’. Their new Trattoria has been an instant success, and has a strong local following. The restaurant was very busy on a Thursday night, and the special event dinner I attended was a sold-out affair. Guests enjoyed an Italian dinner-celebration accompanied by singing and dancing. Olympia, also the general manager, offers special event-dinners regularly that are very well attended. You need a reservation and spaces fill quite fast. If you plan to attend, make sure to contact Olympia for the upcoming event calendar, and reserve your seats in advance. Mangia Benne!
